On behalf of the WMRA, it is with great pleasure I send greetings to all the athletes, coaches, officials, media, spectators and – above all – organisers and sponsors of the 13th World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships. On June 18, Podbrdo will host for the second time, this international championship having hosted in 2011. Over the past five years, our sport has experienced tremendous growth and the WMRA is sure that this year’s Championships will be a testament to this growth with a record number of nations expected to be present. The race will be held in conjunction with the 15th Gorski Maraton Štirih Občin (GM4O). The LOC has designed a course covers 42km, complete with incredible scenery in the spectacular mountains of Slovenia. Special thanks to Athletic federation of Slovenia, an organization that has a long history of supporting our sport having hosted many international mountain running championships. |

The World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships provide a forum whereby the message of sport can be realized through the achievements of all athletes. Additionally, the event affords the opportunity to strengthen the values of friendship, tolerance and mutual respect for our national environment.
