On behalf of the WMRA, it is with great pleasure I send greetings to all the athletes, coaches, officials, media, spectators and – above all – organisers and sponsors of the 13th World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships. On June 18, Podbrdo will host for the second time, this international championship having hosted in 2011. Over the past five years, our sport has experienced tremendous growth and the WMRA is sure that this year’s Championships will be a testament to this growth with a record number of nations expected to be present.

The race will be held in conjunction with the 15th Gorski Maraton Štirih Občin (GM4O). The LOC has designed a course covers 42km, complete with incredible scenery in the spectacular mountains of Slovenia.

Special thanks to Athletic federation of Slovenia, an organization that has a long history of supporting our sport having hosted many international mountain running championships. 

I am delighted to sent greetings by WMRA and by myself to all the athletes, coaches, officials, media, spectators and – above of all – organisers and sponsors of the WMRA Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge, which on next 18th June 2011 will celebrate its 8th edition. The race will be held together the 10th GM40 (Gorski Maraton Štirich Občin) This a competition run over km. 35, where all the runners will discover a beautiful venue in Slovenia. All the LOC member are enthusiastic and well prepared people, who work since many years for this event.

WMRA is sure that the title of WMRA Long Distance Mountain Running Challenge is an important recognition for this event!

WMRA is confident that the numbers of runners and of the national teams present will increase in comparison with other edition of this competition: for this reason I would like to extend my warmest greetings to all national teams present at Podbrdo.
